President’s Address, Built On Trust, Guided By Purpose: Celebrating 40 Years of BWFA

As we mark 40 years of Baltimore- Washington Financial Advisors, I find myself reflecting not only on how far our firm has come, but on the people who made this journey possible.

What began four decades ago as a small advisory practice has grown into something far greater than any one person— or even any one generation—could have imagined. Today, BWFA serves families across multiple generations, helping them navigate life’s transitions, protect what matters most, and build lasting financial confidence. While the scope of our work has expanded, the heart of our mission has remained unchanged.

From the very beginning, BWFA was founded on a simple but powerful belief: financial advice should be personal, objective, and rooted in trust. Long before “fiduciary” became a widely used term, we committed ourselves to acting in the best interests of our clients—always. That principle continues to guide every decision we make.

At its core, our work has never been about markets alone. It has always been about people—listening carefully, understanding what matters most, and walking alongside
our clients through both opportunity and uncertainty. Over the years, we have had the privilege of celebrating milestones, guiding families through challenges, and helping multiple generations steward wealth with purpose.

This anniversary is first and foremost a moment of gratitude. To our clients: thank you for placing your trust in us, often across decades and multiple generations. To our team, past and present: thank you for your dedication and professionalism. To our professional partners and friends of the firm: thank you for your shared commitment to excellence. As we look ahead, we do so with humility and optimism. We are deeply grateful for the journey so far and excited for what lies ahead.

With sincere appreciation,

Robert Carpenter
